Matravat Pardareshu
“Matravat Pardareshu” is a verse which is mentioned in – Hitopadesha, Mitralabha verse 14. It highlights the characteristics of a wise men “wise man is the one who sees others wives as mother, the wealth of others as dust, and all beings as his own self”
Sanskrit Verse
मातृवत् परदारेषु परद्रव्येषु लोष्टवत् ।
आत्मवत् सर्वभूतेषु यः पश्यति स पण्डितः ॥
– Hitopadesha mitralabha verse 14
English Meaning
One who sees others wives as mother, one who sees others wealth as dust. One who sees others like himself, he is a learned man.
Hindi Meaning
दूसरे की पत्नी को अपनी माँ की तरह, दूसरे के धन को मिट्टी के समान, सभी को अपने जैसा जो देखता है वो ही ज्ञानी है।
