“Manojavam marut tulya vegam” ( मनोजवं मारुततुल्यवेगम् ) mantra is taken from Shri Rama Raksha Stotram (श्रीरामरक्षास्तोत्रम्) verse 33.
The composer of the Rama Raksha Stotra is Budha Kaushika. The story goes that Lord Shiva came into Budha Kaushika’s dream and thought him these 38 verses.
“Manojavam marut tulya vegam” (मनोजवं मारुततुल्यवेगम् ) mantra :
मनोजवं मारुततुल्यवेगं जितेन्द्रियं बुद्धिमतां वरिष्ठम्।
वातात्मजं वानरयूथमुख्यं श्रीरामदूतं शरणं प्रपद्ये ॥
Hindi Meaning
जिनकी गति मनके समान और वेग वायुके समान (अत्यंत तेज) है, जो परम जितेन्द्रिय एवं बुद्धिमानोंमें श्रेष्ठ हैं, मैं उन पवन-नंदन वानारग्रगण्य श्रीराम दूतकी शरण लेता हूं ।
English Meaning
Let us pray to the one whose speed is faster as mind (मनोजवं), the one who has power similar to the wind (मारुत-तुल्य-वेगं), the one who has conquered his senses (जितेन्द्रियं), the supreme among all intelligent beings, the son of the wind-god (वातात्मजं), the commander of the army of monkeys (वानर- यूथ- मुख्यं), Let us find refuge in Lord Rama’s messenger, Lord Hanuman.
