Why Vishnu is called Agrani (अग्रणीः)?
Agrani – अग्रे नीयतेऽसौ (अग्र + नी + क्विप्) – the one who takes forward
As mentioned by Adi Shankaracharya in the Commentary of Vishnu Sahasranamam verse 37
अग्रं प्रकृष्टं पदं नयति मुमुक्षूनिति अग्रणीः
-The one who take moksha seekers to the highest level is called Agrani (अग्रणीः)
